The Ihe Development Initiative (IDI), since its registration in June 2017, has remained steadfast in its mission to empower the people of Ihe through education. Among its many projects, one stands out for its unique focus on healthcare education — the Sylvester Ekoh Ogboh’s Memorial Award for Academic Excellence, proudly funded by Dr. Ethelbert Madueke Ekoh.

This award was created to honour the memory of Sylvester Ekoh Ogboh by supporting bright young indigenes of Ihe who gain admission into university to study:

In a remarkable show of commitment, the value of this annual award has now been increased to ₦200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira). This significant boost reflects both the generosity of the sponsor and the importance IDI places on raising future leaders in the healthcare sector.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  1. Be an indigene of Ihe.

  2. Be resident in Nigeria.

  3. Be below 45 years of age.

  4. Present a valid University Admission Letter into Medicine, Dentistry, or Nursing.

  5. Be mentally sound and medically fit.

  6. Have no criminal record.
