Chief Samson Akpaka, a philanthropist from Ihe, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, in partnership with the Ihe Development Initiative (IDI), is offering a PhD scholarship award in memory of his late father, Mr. Anthony Akpaka.
The initiative is aimed at supporting the human capital development of Ihe community through investment in the educational development of qualified indigenes.
Scholarship Award
Successful applicants will receive a one-off grant of ₦1,000,000 (One Million Naira) to support their PhD studies in any public university in Nigeria.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be an indigene of Ihe.
- Be resident in Nigeria.
- Be below 45 years of age.
- Hold a Master’s degree.
- Be mentally sound.
- Have no criminal record.
- Demonstrate the capacity to withstand the academic and research demands of a PhD programme.
- Have secured admission into a PhD programme and attach a valid PhD admission letter.

- PhD admission letter
- MSc certificate or evidence of completion
- Valid means of identification
- Other supporting documents as may be required
